. the california woman who lost the ticket in her car for months. now, she's coming forward to claim a $23 million jackpot, just in the nick of time. abc's nick watt has the story. >> reporter: these security camera photos show the $23 million winner leaving the store after she bought her ticket back in may. >> i remember, the lady walked in. she bought a bottle of water. she walked out. as soon as she got to the door, her mom called out, just buy a lottery ticket. >> reporter: lottery officials were hoping, praying someone would recognize her before it was too late. the mystery winner bought just one ticket. it cost her a single dollar. but if you don't claim your winnings within six months, the cash goes to the california school system. she had only until november 30th to come forward. local tv stations and newspapers were all over the tale of the mystery millionaire. then, late yesterday, a break. the woman's daughter spotted her mother on tv. mum had no idea she was the winner. cue a frantic search of her car for the five-month-old scrap of paper. and she found it. in 2010, $17.5 million went

. another story from the university of southern california. we will pull up the front page of the l.a. times. several people have been shot at a campus halloween party. not sure yet if the victims are students or not. we are trying to get more information out of los angeles. this happened after 1:00 this morning their time. several people shot. we're not sure if they are students or not. hopefully we will have more information a little bit later on a denture the newscast. >> 4:79 now. the investigation continues with a deadly shooting in northwest washington. >> a man shot several times and ignited it. it is unclear what led up to the shooting. police are not releasing information on suspects. a police chase ended with three arrests. the suspects were taken into custody on morton street. officers found a gun inside the suspect poses a car. >> the search continues for those behind the shooting of a teenager in southeast d.c. we do not know how he is doing right now. still checking on that. police questioned one person but so far no arrests. >> investigators are trying to find out what caused

california campus remains on lockdown at this hour. in fact, the university just released an alert to students telling them to seek shelter, stay indoors and avoid opening doors for unknown people. the shooting suspect still remains at large. we have learned that several victims, possibly up to four, have been taken to local hospitals in los angeles. witnesses telling the l.a. times this morning that the shooting happened at a party in the center of campus at the tudor campus center which seems to be a student union on campus. the witness is telling the "l.a. times" that there was a party celebrating halloween. it was max capacity inside. at least 100 people inside and outside. gunmen came up and just started shooting and at least they believe four students were shot. looking at the reports, we're hearing one of those students may be in critical condition, but we're trying to get more and more information. a lot of stuff coming out on social media now. keeping in touch with the "l.a. times." >> thanks a lot. weps we want to get back to the race
